I’m trying to remember where I was, but sometime, somewhere recently I was eating ice cream out with my wife and kids. My 2 year old daughter loves ice cream. I know, I know, big shocker. Anyway, for whatever reason, instead of just having her share some of ours, this time we got her a bowl of her own. True to form, she was shoveling it in as if trying break all ice cream eating records related to speed and quantity. It’s funny, when you give kids something like ice cream, you can almost see them thinking, “holy crap, did they mean to put this in front of me? I don’t know, but I’d better put all of it in my mouth right now before something changes.” Ok, maybe they’re not thinking “holy crap,” but I digress. The point is, as she was putting man sized bites in her mouth one after another, the resulting brain freeze was inevitable. As it happened right on cue, she cried out, “owe, ice cream is burning me!”

To a young child, a brain freeze is indiscriminate from a burn. To the Al Gores of the world, global cooling is no different from global warming. Follow me on this. Global temperatures haven’t risen since 1998, and they have dropped dramatically over the past 16 months. So, if the left doesn’t view global cooling, warming, or any change at all as the same, why are they still so insistent that we all should be flipping out about the earth’s temperature? Seriously, I’m not trying to be Mr. Right wing guy who thinks we should all just ignore the environmental problems and kill all of humanity because I’d rather just drive my big gas guzzling co2 emitting SUV because I’m selfish blah blah blah either. I know that’s what the media and the left (what’s the difference?) would think, but I’m being for real. If the global warming alarmists primary concern was simply that the earth was in danger, wouldn’t they be ecstatic that global temperatures have dropped dramatically in the last year and a half? Honestly, right? If Al Gore and friends really believed that the minor rise in temperatures over the last century was genuine cause for alarm, why wouldn’t they be relieved that global temperatures today have now fallen as low as they were in the 70′s when scientists were warning us of the coming ice age? Maybe I just don’t understand, or maybe one or more of the following is true:

#1. The environmentalist activists don’t care if global warming is really happening as long as you believe it is. They only care about the money and power that are byproducts of being able to control the masses. I mean, if you’re not freaked out at the thought that your grandchildren might burn up because of global warming, why else would you support far-reaching environmental causes with otherwise dire (such as economical) consequences? If you aren’t convinced that we need to enact radical measures to reverse global climate change, why else would you donate money to Al Gore (that is, unless you just want to tell him “thank you” for inventing the Internet)?

#2. Perhaps, much like the Darwinists who refuse to consider the notion that life originated through “Intelligence” because it is opposed to their worldview (and thus their agenda), global warming alarmists have been blinded by their socialist goals for society? Or maybe they just don’t want to admit they’re wrong? Or maybe they just have been believing this lie for so long now, that no amount of evidence ever could change their mind? This brings me right into #3…

#3. Maybe all the greenies are just plain crazy? I would have to think, if you don’t have ulterior motives or have not just been flat-out dooped, then you must be insane to keep fretting about the earth getting warming when it’s clearly not.

As recent as 30 years ago, cooling temperatures led climatologists to speculate that we might be headed for a devastating ice age. Then, here comes another big shocker, the global temperature reversed course again as it’d been doing for thousands of years (just as it has again now). So I guess the question is, 10 years down the road when any consideration of a global warming catastrophe will have long disappeared from the minds of any normal person, will the Al Gore crowd still be shouting down at us about the impending earth burnup? Or will they be freaking out once again about the impending ice age? While, I guarantee they will be hysterical about something, I’m kinda hoping for the former. It will only help to confirm my #3 reason (above) that global warming zealots ignore the facts (I’m kinda rooting for #3). I can see Al Gore now, sitting in his igloo naked, mistaking the ice burn on his butt for one caused by global warming, and muttering to himself about all of us idiots who just don’t get it. I’ll tell you one person who does get it, though (please enjoy the ensuing sarcasm)…my two year old. She’s not fooled by the cold. She’s felt the fiery burn of ice cream. Maybe that’s who the global warming alarmists should be targeting? Two year olds. I mean, if you’re a crazy, liberal, greenie who is getting frustrated by the ever-growing numbers of people like me who would rather just look at the cold (no pun intended), hard facts when it comes to global warming instead of simply accepting all the hype, maybe for you, conversing with a two year old is just what the doctor ordered.
